Celebrating Indonesian Independence Day in Palangkaraya, Kalimantan

17 August is Indonesian Independence day throughout Indonesia, however as Indonesian Independence day fell on a Saturday this year, it was celebrated over several days. On the
Friday afternoon after school, Bu Eka organised some games for 6 of her nieces and nephews. She organised not only the equipment needed for the games but also first second and third prizes for each! Everyone had a fantastic time!

The next day, I went to school with Bu Eka, one of Bu Arfa’s younger sisters. She teaches at an Islamic junior high school in Palangkaraya. After being introduced to several staff members, I was given free reign to wander around filming! This was so much fun. I firstly filmed the flag raising ceremony which was terribly formal. They had several rehearsals before finally began officially.

and then I filmed the games that were organised for the students afterwards. It was so much fun, that I think we should do something similar next year at PEPS! What do you think?
